Job Description

As an Avaloq Developer at Barclays, you will support the organisation and achieve its strategic objectives by identifying business requirements and solutions that address business problems and opportunities. The role involves designing, developing, and improving software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities.

Requirements & Experience

– Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science/Engineering)
– Core Experience: Strong application development experience with Oracle PL/SQL in banking applications/products; Avaloq knowledge is an added advantage
– System Experience: Experience in a large IT organization working in a support environment, supporting mission-critical complex systems with heavy reliance on batch processing
– Technical Knowledge: Oracle PL/SQL, Avaloq script, UNIX, Agile Central, SVN, and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
– Banking Domain: Knowledge of banking products; experience with Avaloq or other core banking solutions (e.g., Finacle, T24, BaNCS)

Skills

– Technical: Secure coding practices, unit testing, and proficient use of industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools
– Highly Valued: Working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Service Now, and Agile methodologies
– Functional: In-depth knowledge of financial services and functional modules like security trading, order management, settlement, corporate actions, credit, and payments
– Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

– Development: Develop and deliver high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and performance-optimized software solutions
– Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with product managers and designers to define requirements and devise strategy
– Quality Assurance: Participate in code reviews, promote knowledge sharing, implement unit testing, and adhere to secure coding practices
– Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of industry trends and contribute to technology communities
– Leadership/Analyst Expectations: Perform tasks to a high standard, supervise teams (if applicable), guide professional development, manage risk, and strengthen controls
– Stakeholder Management: Act as a contact point for external stakeholders and influence decision-making within the area of expertise
