Students from Punjab Engineering College excel in an IIT Guwahati competition

The Punjab Engineering College (deemed-to-be university) Speakers’ Association and Study Circle Club received several awards during the 27th edition of ‘Alcheringa,’ one of the greatest cultural festivals in northeastern India.

The event, themed “pledge to continue,” was held at IIT Guwahati from February 2 to February 5. The PEC team won prizes in quiz and parliamentary debate events, with almost 500 colleges participating.

The general quiz and sports quiz were won by the duo of Siddharth, a second-year civil engineering student, and Sarthak Chauhan, a fourth-year computer science student. The two came in fourth place in the humorous quiz and second place in the business quiz.

The parliamentary debate tournament was won by Ankit Kumar Singh (fourth-year electrical engineering), Shaily (second-year civil engineering), and Asmit (second-year electrical engineering). Amisha, Kartik, and Ritvik, students of electronics and communication engineering, were semi-finalists.

Ankit, a fourth-year student, was named the second-best speaker, with Asmit and Ritvik tied for third.

Sarthak Chauhan placed second in the Rap Battle.
