Prof. Vanamala Uma Maheshwar, a prominent figure in the field of automotive engineering and the current chairman of SAE India – Hyderabad Division has been honored with the prestigious Leadership Award by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India Southern Section. This recognition underscores his outstanding leadership contributions to the organization.

The award was presented to Prof. Maheshwar during SAE India’s annual awards ceremony, which took place in Chennai. Notably, this is the second consecutive time that he has received this esteemed award, reflecting the consistent excellence in his leadership role.

Prof. Maheshwar’s dedication to the Society of Automotive Engineers spans over a decade, where he has held various vital positions. In 2012, he took the initiative to establish the SAE Collegiate Club at Osmania University College of Engineering (OUCE). This club has become a thriving hub for students from diverse engineering backgrounds. Here, they receive guidance and hands-on experience in designing, fabricating, and testing a wide range of automotive projects. These projects encompass Formula Racing Vehicles, All Terrain Vehicles, Hybrid-powered three-wheeler Efficycles, Radio-controlled Unmanned Aircraft, and Autonomous Drones, among others.

Under Prof. Maheshwar’s leadership and guidance, OUCE students have achieved remarkable success on the national stage, consistently securing top positions and prizes at various prestigious events and competitions. This is a testament to his vision, dedication, and the invaluable contribution he has made in fostering the growth and innovation within the field of automotive engineering. Prof. Vanamala Uma Maheshwar continues to be a driving force in the SAE India community and a source of inspiration for future generations of automotive engineers.
