IITs and IISc teachers from Sona College of Technology dominate the NPTEL test

The combined performance of Sona College students, teachers is at number 17, nationwide. Faculty from 5,130 colleges participated in the NPTEL July test.

NEW DELHI: Sona College of Technology has earned top place for the third consecutive time in the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) test July 2022 session. Faculty from 5,130 colleges participated in the NPTEL July test.

“The combined performance of its students and professors ranks at No 17, nationwide. This is the ninth time that the institution finds its name on the ‘AA’ rating – the rating accorded to schools in the top 11-50 ranking in the nation,” the official release added.

The NIRF-ranked Sona College is an independent college within Anna University. It won the second place, based on combined performance of its students and professors, among all engineering college local chapters in Tamil Nadu.

The NPTEL test is administered by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) – IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. It also provides several online courses on a number of technical disciplines.

The Sona NPTEL local branch, which is operational since 2016, has been supporting the NPTEL technical courses, assignments and tests biannually. The BE, BTech, MCA and MBA students of the institution take at least one NPTEL test each in their second or third year, the college stated.

Vice-chairman of Sona Group of Education Institutions Chocko Valliappa said: “The Sona College considers NPTEL programmes helpful for its teachers in acquiring information and abilities in advanced technological sectors and benchmarking against the very best. Since NPTEL tests enable only the absolute best to clear, we have required all faculty members complete NPTEL courses to create industry-ready graduates.”

SRR Senthil Kumar, principal of Sona College of Technology said: “NPTEL programmes help our students and teachers to obtain vital skills via programmes planned and delivered by experienced IIT and IISc professors. And the high ranks attained by Sona professors assist show their supremacy in a competitive standard nationally.”

“Three students of Sona College of Technology (Information Technology, AI & Data Sciences, and Electronics and Communication Engineering departments) have been approved to undertake a 3-month internship at IIT Kharagpur via their NPTEL performance,” Senthil Kumar stated.
