Aim Of The Program: IIT Roorkee offers institute-funded (with a stipend of Rs. 2,500/week) and project-funded summer internships under the SPARK program. The objective of this program is to attract and nurture talented undergraduate students across the country. The program has been highly successful so far, with 15000+ applications last year, out of which 120+ offers were made. The work of the interns was well recognized and also resulted in many research publications in reputed journals and international conferences.
This initiative is a part of IITR@175 partnerships launched by the director of IIT Roorkee on 175 Years celebrations of the Institute. Through this initiative, IIT Roorkee aims to reach out to aspiring students in institutions around Roorkee to offer the opportunity to get mentorship from the Professors at IIT Roorkee, work on challenging problems and develop innovative solutions. The maximum duration of the UG internship will be 8 weeks and the duration of the PG internship is 6 months.
The SPARK summer internship program is aimed to offer this experience to all those interns, who are selected after a tough competition among the brightest minds in the country and abroad also. IIT Roorkee faculty members give these interns atmost attention and a world-class facility, for which this internship program has gained high popularity in a short time period.
The main objective is to provide research exposure to interested undergraduate and postgraduate students of IITR.
The eligibility criteria is students currently enrolled and have completed atleast two semesters of an undergraduate degree from any institute in India.
How to register? Here are the guidelines
1. log in to submit your application and view the status of your application.
2. Application needs to submit through an online portal made for the purpose where the applicants will upload the last sem mark sheet of their current degree, a photograph, a 500-word research statement, and a brief 1-2 page resume.
3. Applicants need to mention the names of five faculty members of their choice from the list of faculty members.
4. All interns will be issued a temporary institute ID to avail of the library, sports, medical, computer center, internet, and departmental research and recreation facilities.
5. At the successful completion of the internship a certificate from the institute will be provided with the name of the intern and mentor signed by the Dean.
