Additionally, Vaibhav College will provide the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program, admitting 80 students, focusing on accounting and finance to nurture future professionals in the field.

In total, the affiliation process witnessed an overwhelming response from colleges, with a significant number of applications received. Out of the 159 colleges applying for affiliation, 156 sought renewal, demonstrating the sustained commitment of educational institutions to be a part of MU. Among the renewal applications, 33 colleges displayed enthusiasm in offering new programs, with 19 colleges specifically seeking to introduce the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) program. Additionally, 15 colleges applied for an extra batch or increased intake for the BCA program, highlighting the popularity and demand for this specialized field. Furthermore, around 13 colleges sought affiliation for new career-oriented programs, reflecting the growing need for industry-relevant education and skills development.

In an unexpected turn of events, the need for an urgent academic council meeting arose due to the transition of the affiliation process to the UUCMS portal. Communication was received, indicating that the affiliation process must be finalized by Thursday and forwarded to the head office. Consequently, the university swiftly organized the special academic council meeting to address the matter, with a subsequent syndicate meeting scheduled for Wednesday to further deliberate on the issue.
During the productive academic council meeting, a significant decision was made to change the names of certain colleges to better align with their evolving identities and affiliations. Mangalore Institute of Fire and Safety Engineering College underwent a transformation, now being recognized as Minerva College in Adyar. Similarly, Vikas College was rechristened as Canara Vikas First Grade College, following its management transfer to the esteemed Canara High School Association. The college principal had formally requested the renaming, acknowledging the new management’s vision and direction. Additionally, Swasthika National School underwent a name change and is now known as Swasthika National Business School, embracing its focus on business education and preparing students for the corporate world.
Another noteworthy development occurred in the administrative landscape of Indus College located in Puttur. The college’s administration has been entrusted to the capable hands of the Mahaveera Education Trust. Notably, the college did not apply for the continuation of affiliation during the academic years of 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21, leading to this significant transition in management.
These decisions taken by the academic council highlight the university’s commitment to adapt and accommodate the evolving needs and circumstances of educational institutions.
