DUK & Engineering Colleges Collaborate on Electronics Engineering Research

Digital University Kerala (DUK) has taken a step towards enhancing its research capabilities in the field of electronics engineering. In a bid to collaborate on research-oriented programmes, DUK has signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) with Government Engineering College Thrissur (GECT) and TKM College of Engineering, Kollam. The MoU will facilitate joint research in the areas of Very-Large-Scale-Integration (VLSI), signal processing and embedded systems, as well as the development of chips, circuit boards and hardware products.

The signing ceremony took place during the G20-Digital Innovation Alliance (DIA) national roadshow at Maker Village in Kochi, where DUK Dean (Academics) Alex James exchanged MoUs with Industry Institute Interaction Cell coordinator of GECT Praseetha P. Nair and Shabeer S., head of the department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at TKM College of Engineering.

Dr. James believes that the collaborations will bring together the research expertise of DUK in chip design and signal processing with the rich talent pool in the engineering colleges. This will foster mutual research interests, start-ups and developmental activities between the staff and students. Moreover, the engagement will promote experiential learning as part of the programs, allowing the students to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in their respective fields.

The MoU is a significant step towards creating a robust research ecosystem in the field of electronics engineering in Kerala. The collaboration between DUK, GECT and TKM College of Engineering will pave the way for innovation and development, and help students and staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in this rapidly evolving field.
