‘Date with Industry’ event for delivering work chances to college students today

It aims at ensuring jobs for 10,000 final year students, internships for around 10,000 students and making 50,000 students job ready through upskilling

As part of the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission’s ‘Connect Career to Campus’ campaign, Kerala Skills Express will hold ‘Date with the Industry’ activity on Valentine’s Day to give jobs to final-year students.

The industrial engagement initiative will be held in 100 arts and science institutions, 100 engineering colleges and 50 polytechnics. The course is held in conjunction with G-TECH, NASSCOM and CII.

The Skills Express targets at assuring employment for 10,000 final year students, internship for roughly 10,000 students and make 50,000 students work ready via different skill development initiatives. It also intends to provide employment possibilities to colleges in rural regions and promote the ‘Work While Studying’ idea. At the initial phase, the project would be offered across 75 chosen institutions, including arts and scientific colleges, in the State.

The project will be conducted in two phases, Career Track and Learning Track. While Career Track strives to secure employment and internship, the emphasis of Study Track is to assist students identify relevant learning routes and training courses to fulfil industry needs. Students who secure employment and internship under the initiative will be handed over job offer letters during a celebration to be held in Thiruvananthapuram in May this year.
