Andhra University College of Engineering hosts seminar on Recent Developments in Civil Engineering Practices with expert speakers

The Department of Civil Engineering at Andhra University College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam recently held a seminar titled “Recent Developments in Civil Engineering Practices”. The event was attended by undergraduate, postgraduate, and research scholars, and featured lectures from a range of experts in the field.

The seminar convener, Associate Professor I. Siva Parvathi, noted that the event was inaugurated by the department head, C.N.V. Satyanarayana Reddy. The speakers discussed topics such as the manufacturing of cements suitable for marine and coastal environments, seismic-resistant steel structures, geosynthetics for civil engineering projects, and rockfall protection in hill slopes.

One of the distinguished speakers was former IIT Madras Civil Engineering Professor K. Rajagopal, who gave a talk on the construction of Kannur Airport using geosynthetics. Ramesh Chetti from Garware Wall Fibres Limited, Pune, also spoke about methods of rockfall protection in steep hill slopes. Meanwhile, Y. Hari Krishna from Keller India discussed emerging trends in sustainable foundation technology for complex ground conditions.

To summarize, the seminar provided an excellent platform for sharing knowledge and insights into the latest developments in civil engineering practices, with experts discussing a range of topics, from the use of geosynthetics in construction to sustainable foundation technology.
