ABES College Website Hacked After Student Ejected for ‘Jai Shree Ram’ Chant

  1. Hacking of ABES College Website: On October 21st, the official website of ABES College was subjected to a cyberattack. The hackers replaced the site’s content with a message that read “Jai Shree Ram” and a manipulated image depicting Professor Mamata Gautam as Surpanakha.
  2. Content and Message: The hacked website prominently featured an image of Lord Ram along with the altered image of teacher Mamata Sharma portrayed as Surpanakha. The message on the website declared, “Jai Shree Ram. Only demons have a problem with the name of Lord Ram.”
  3. Incident Precipitating the Hack: This hacking incident appears to be linked to a prior incident at ABES College. On October 20th, during a cultural festival and student induction program, a student greeted the audience with “Jai Shri Ram” and was chastised by an assistant professor, identified as Mamata Gautam. The video of this incident went viral on social media.
  4. Incident at the Cultural Festival: The video showcased Professor Mamata Gautam scolding the student for saying “Jai Shri Ram” during the event. She questioned the student’s choice to use the slogan in a cultural program, which led to the student being asked to leave.
  5. The Professor’s Response: Mamata Gautam, in her defense, asserted that she had no issue with the “Jai Shri Ram” slogan. She claimed that she herself observes a nine-day fast during Navratri and is a Sanatani Brahmin. She further stated that the student in question was involved in an argument with her colleague, and she merely intervened as a discipline and cultural coordinator.
  6. Current Status of the Website: As of now, the website appears to have been restored to its original state. However, the college authorities have not issued any statement regarding this incident.
