Abacus Institute of Engineering and Management Hosts Second Edition of Technical Fest – PROXEC 2.0

Abacus Institute of Engineering and Management, a collaborative venture between the JIS Group and Techno India Group, recently hosted the second edition of its highly-anticipated Technical Fest, PROXEC 2.0. The event, which took place from October 4th to 6th, 2023, was a remarkable showcase of technical prowess and innovation. Situated at the picturesque campus in Mogra, Hooghly, West Bengal, it drew over 400 enthusiastic participants from various engineering colleges and schools across the region.

What set PROXEC 2.0 apart was the distinguished panel of guests, featuring leaders from some of India’s major technical societies—an unprecedented occurrence in West Bengal. The esteemed list of guests included luminaries such as Prof. Saradindu Panda, the Chief Guest and Principal of SurTech, Prof. Debasis De, President of CSI Kolkata Chapter, and Dr. Jyotisekhar Banerjee, a notable figure in the CSI Kolkata Chapter and Secretary cum Treasurer of ISTE, West Bengal Section. Dr. Koushik Bhattacharya, CEO of M/s Rainbow Infrastructure, added to the lineup of illustrious guests.

On October 4th, 2023, PROXEC 2.0 kicked off with an intra-college Poster Presentation Competition. An impressive collection of over 70 posters covered a diverse range of topics, from technical innovations to socio-ecological aspects of technology and emerging technological trends. The judging panel, consisting of Mr. Shounak Bandopadhyay, Mr. Sumangal Bhaumik, and Mr. Sumit Banerjee, all hailing from the institute, meticulously evaluated the posters.

The following day, October 5th, commenced with the ceremonial lighting of lamps by the distinguished guests, setting the stage for an inspiring event. Dr. Jinia Datta, the Principal of the institute, delivered a motivating speech, and the guests were honored by Dr. Datta and the institute’s Registrar, Mr. Devmalya Banerjee. The event judges, an impressive assembly of industry experts, were also acknowledged. Notable figures in this panel included Dr. Raju Basak, Mr. Suvendu Ghosh, Mr. Anirbit Sengupta, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, Dr. Aniruddha Nag, and Prof. Soumyabrata Saha.

The heart of PROXEC 2.0 lay in the remarkable projects displayed by students from various engineering and diploma colleges, as well as schools. Each group of students showcased their creativity and technical prowess in diverse ways. Computer Science Engineering students presented innovative games and self-developed apps like ‘3D Book by AR’ and ‘PC Voice Assistant.’ Mechanical Engineering students impressed with projects such as ‘Smart Dustbin’ and ‘Automatic Floor Cleaner,’ while the Electrical Engineering students focused on cost-effective energy generation and transmission systems, including ‘Solar UPS’ and ‘Arduino-Based Smart Farming.’ The Electronics and Communication Department used Bluetooth technology and AI in their exhibits, while Civil Engineering students showcased efficient construction strategies.

The grand culmination of PROXEC 2.0 took place on October 6th, 2023, with the prize distribution ceremony graced by eminent personalities. Winners in both the B.Tech. and Diploma project categories were rewarded with generous cash prizes, sponsored by Idea-O-Meter, an initiative of JIS Group. Additionally, the top performers in the Poster Presentation Competition received well-deserved accolades.

In the Poster Presentation Competition, Depesh Dhanapati, Sudipta Sadhukhan, and Saptadipa Das from the Department of Electrical Engineering secured the first position, while Md. Shah Faisal, Aditya Kumar Sharma, and Uday Mahata claimed the second position. Surya Prasad, Ayush Kumar Ratan, and Md. Nafish Alam clinched the third position.

The recognition extended to the project competition, with winners in both the Diploma and B.Tech. categories standing out. Notable projects included ‘Smart Complex’ by Amir Mondal, Surajit Rana, and Moupali Kar from Technique Polytechnic Institute in the Diploma section. In the B.Tech. category, ‘3D Book by AR’ by Saikat Majumdar and Jayita Mondal, ‘Virtual Mouse’ by Anshit Mukherjee, Disha Adhikary, and Chandana Das, and ‘IoT-Based Smart Farming’ by Partha Barman, Samanay Dey, and Rithick Sarkar earned top honors. A special achievement award was granted to ‘Historical Journey of Chandrayaan 3 to the Moon’ by Anuska Das, Samata Das, and Rupsha Saha from Balagarh High School, captivating the judges and attendees alike.

PROXEC 2.0 received resounding praise from all guests and participants, cementing its place as a successful and influential event.
