Google Chrome gets new privacy features, tools to manage cookies and tabs
Google on Monday reported that it is revealing a large group of protection highlights and new tools in Chrome for desktop. Google in its blog entry expressed the Chrome 83 will give a lot of controls to its clients to all the more likely screen their wellbeing on the web. With the new highlights, the clients will have the option to oversee treats, can protect their passwords on the program, can erase treats on in secret mode, and will have the option to smooth out their tabs on Chrome.
Announcing the same on Twitter, CEO Sundar Pichai wrote, “We’re rolling out new tools + redesigned privacy & security settings in on desktop to help you better control your safety on the web: a safety check tool, 3rd party cookie controls in Incognito mode, Enhanced Safe Browsing, Secure DNS & more.”
Here are some of the key features that are coming to Google Chrome
Controls to manage cookies on browser
The new features by Google will allow users to manage cookies on Chrome. Users get the option of choosing how cookies are being used by websites they visit. The user can also block third-party cookies in regular or Incognito mode.
“We’ve reorganized the controls into two distinct sections to make it easier to find the most sensitive website permissions: access to your location, camera or microphone, and notifications. A new section also highlights the most recent permissions activity,” AbdelKarim Mardini, Senior Product Manager, Google, said in a blogpost.
Delete cookies on incognito mode
The new controls on Google chrome will be deleting cookies, blocking third-party cookies by default within each Incognito session every time a browser window is closed in incognito. This would further enhance the private browsing experience. However, users also have the option of allowing third-party cookies for specific sites by clicking the “eye” icon in the address bar.
Safe browsing and safety check in Chrome
The safety tool will let users know if the passwords you have allowed Chrome to remember have been comprised or not. If it shows that the password has been compromised, the tool will allow users to fix the gaffe.
The safe browsing feature will alert you before you visit a malicious site. This would also disable your chances of downloading a harmful extension.
Manage tab and extensions
You will find a new puzzle icon for your extensions on your toolbar. This icon will allow you to control what data extensions can view on sites you visit. However, this wouldn’t stop you from pinning your favorite extension to the toolbar, as you did earlier. It would only make it easier for you to streamline extensions.
Enhanced Browsing protection and Secure DNS
The enhanced browsing feature will protect users from phishing, malware, and other web-based threats. “If you turn on Enhanced Safe Browsing, Chrome proactively checks whether pages and downloads are dangerous by sending information about them to Google Safe Browsing. If you’re signed in to Chrome, then Chrome and other Google apps you use (Gmail, Drive, etc.) will further protect you based on a holistic view of threats you encounter on the web and attacks against your Google Account. Over the next year, we’ll be adding even more protections to this mode including tailored warnings for phishing sites and file downloads, and cross-product alerts. “Google blog read.
