C-FACE Smart Mask by Donut Robotics
From the day the Corona pandemic hit the world people understood the importance and felt the need for the face mask. Face masks are an integral part of any infection control strategy to eliminate cross-contamination. Also after the pandemic settles when people get back to their normal routine life the use of face mask will continue and it will become a part of our daily life Recently Donut Robotics made a high-tech face mask with its “smart” capabilities which not only prevent you from the danger but also help in the conversion of speech in 8 different languages which is named C-FACE Smart Mask.
This is a standard size face mask which perfectly fits over a person and can translate a wearer’s speech from Japanese into English, French, Indonesian, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese.
It is a plastic made a mask that connects to a smartphone or tablet app via Bluetooth which then translates speech into text messages, dictates speech, and makes calls.
“We have redefined the ‘mask’ that has been protecting human health for a long time with the latest technology,” the company website reads.
Earlier Donut Robotics had just signed a contract to supply Tokyo’s Haneda Airport with robot guides and translators. But pandemic shook the world, the company felt the need to develop a product that could be used during and in the aftermath of coronavirus.
Engineers used translation software ina mask and after a few prototypes, the mask went online to seek funding.
“We worked hard for years to develop a robot and we have used that technology to create a product that responds to how the coronavirus has reshaped society,” the chief executive of Donut Robotics, Taisuke Ono, told Reuters.
The cost price of the C-Face Smart Mask is about $40 a piece. The first 5,000 will be sold in Japan but future runs could be sold in China, Europe, and the US shortly. Donut Robotics plans to use its funding to develop the masks further, possibly adding AR or VR components, to help translate from images, not just speech.
