“Spirit” is the annual sports festival organized by IIT Guwahati and is one of the largest sporting events in the northeast region of India. This high-octane fest witnesses maximum footfall of sportsmen and women and other participants from all parts of the country enabling competitive events of multiple sports like soccer, basketball, cricket, badminton, volleyball and several others. This year it falls on 24th – 27th October 2024. Spirit promotes the values of sports, togetherness, and a sense of fair play in all competitions taking place irrespective of any modern or traditional sport. So, lets learn more on spirit 2024.
Know the Institute:
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995. At present the Institute has eleven departments, seven inter-disciplinary academic centres and five schools covering all the major engineering, science, healthcare, management and humanities disciplines. It offers B.Tech., B.Des., M.A., M.Des., M.Tech., M.Sc., MBA and Ph.D. programmes. Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati’s campus is on a sprawling 285 hectares plot of land. It is present on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra around 20 kms from the heart of the city. With the majestic Brahmaputra on one side. And with hills and vast open spaces on others, the campus provides an ideal setting for learning.

Spirit’23, the annual sports fest of IIT Guwahati, kicked off with athletes and enthusiasts gathered. They were there for a thrilling showdown as the games commenced. The campus was buzzing with excitement, as participants and spectators alike eagerly embraced the spirit of sportsmanship and competition. With the games now in full swing, the stage is set for an action-packed and memorable event. Various sports like cricket, volleyball, tennis, badminton, hockey, swimming and many other athletic competitions. Indoor games like chess, carrom, yoga also included. Huge fields and track records were having an amazing view for the spectators. Very huge crowd graced the event.All the athletes were extremely charged with the cheering team shouting their names during games. It was indeed very beautiful amalgamation of sports and culture with unity in diversity amongst students.
