The University College of Engineering, Osmania University (OU), is one of the most prestigious institutions in India that offers courses in engineering and technology. With a rich history of producing skilled engineers and researchers, the university has always been at the forefront of innovation and academic excellence.
In a significant development, the university has recently managed to secure two professor chairs sponsored by Coal India Ltd and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) for its mining technology department. The move is expected to revitalize the engineering course in mining technology and provide new opportunities for students to learn and research in this field.
The announcement was made by D Vijay Kumar, the president of the alumni association, during the Global Alumni Meet of University College of Engineering. He also revealed that SCCL has funded the construction of the classroom complex for the department of electronics and communication, demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting education and research in the field.
This investment in the university’s infrastructure and faculty positions is expected to attract the best and brightest minds in the field of engineering and technology, further cementing the university’s position as a leader in the field. With the support of leading industry players like Coal India Ltd and SCCL, the university is well-positioned to continue its legacy of academic excellence and innovation for years to come.
“The alumni association along with the mining engineers’ fraternity managed to get two professor chairs,” Kumar said, highlighting the formation of Osmania Foundation as an umbrella organization for all alumni associations of colleges under OU.
The Global Alumni Meet of University College of Engineering held on Sunday witnessed the participation of about 500 alumni and students from the institution. The event was graced by the presence of A Gopal Rao, the chairman and managing director (CMD) of Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL), Warangal, who appreciated the efforts of the alumni in contributing to their alma mater.
