During the meeting of the BJP’s manifesto drafting advisory committee in Mangaluru, attendees brought up several demands related to the region’s infrastructure and economic development. One such demand was the establishment of a marine engineering college, which would provide educational opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing careers in the maritime industry. Additionally, the construction of an outer ring road was proposed, which would enhance the region’s transportation infrastructure and facilitate the movement of goods and people.
Chartered accountant S.S. Nayak also raised concerns about the issue of 1,500 acres of land in Baikampady that is currently under litigation. He argued that this pending issue should be resolved in a timely manner so that the land can be allocated for the creation of industries. This would help to generate employment opportunities for locals and contribute to the region’s economic growth.
Furthermore, attendees called for the doubling of the Konkan Railway line between Mangaluru and Goa to improve connectivity between the two states. There were also demands to increase the frequency of trains between Mangaluru and Bengaluru, which would make it easier for people to travel between the two cities. Vaman Shenoy highlighted the poor condition of ghat roads and highways, which has led to road connectivity issues in the region. This has caused a diversion of cargo away from the New Mangaluru Port towards ports in neighbouring states, leading to economic losses.
At a recent meeting in Mangaluru, attendees called for measures to be taken to promote the region as an IT hub in order to create employment opportunities and prevent the “brain drain” of talented individuals leaving the area. They also emphasized the importance of promoting tourism and creating an ecosystem that would attract IT companies to the region.
One specific demand that was made was for the construction of “Hindu Bhavans,” which would provide a space for low-income individuals to hold their events and functions. There was also a call for the establishment of an office for the National Investigation Agency, which would help to enhance the region’s security infrastructure.
Union Minister of State for Tourism, Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sripad Naik was present at the meeting and highlighted the need to create employment opportunities for the region’s youth. He assured attendees that their demands would be conveyed to the party before the drafting of the manifesto for the upcoming Assembly election.
In conclusion, the meeting in Mangaluru served as a platform for attendees to voice their concerns and make demands related to the region’s infrastructure, economic development, and security. The proposals put forth included initiatives to promote the region as an IT hub, the construction of Hindu Bhavans for low-income individuals, and the establishment of an office for the National Investigation Agency. The meeting served as an important opportunity for community members to share their vision for the region’s future and advocate for the changes they believe are necessary.
