The Palghar district in Maharashtra is witnessing a surge in industrial development, and the St John Technical and Education Campus is playing a pivotal role in providing education to students in the region. According to Palghar district collector Govind Maruti Bodke, the district has the potential for all-round development, and he thanked the Trustees of St John Campus for establishing the institution way back in 2007, which provides education from KG to PG.
Bodke was the chief guest at the ‘Laghuswapna’ event organized by the department of Master of Management Studies of St John College of Engineering and Management Palghar. He welcomed industrialists to the Palghar district and highlighted the proposed bullet train project that is expected to boost the region’s development further. With two stations in Palghar district, the project will enable overall development in the district at all levels.
The ‘Laghuswapna’ event organized by the department of Master of Management Studies of St John College of Engineering and Management Palghar kicked off with a traditional Saraswati Vandana and lighting of the lamp. Chairman of Aldel Education Trust, Albert W D’Souza, welcomed the guests and congratulated the MMS department for organizing the event. He highlighted that the campus provides quality education in the rural district of Palghar through 25 multidisciplinary courses, serving 6000 students and 450 staff members, with around 4500 students receiving technical, higher, and professional education.
D’Souza also mentioned that the campus is planning and progressing for autonomy and deemed university as per the New Education Policy. Recently, the campus has tied up with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to provide opportunities for students to pursue higher education in the United States.
The event was attended by guest speakers, including Dr. Pankaj Pawar, CEO of Palghar Nagar Parishad, who expressed his happiness towards the international level of education being provided by the campus. Dr. Digambar Jaikishan Zawar, Group Chairman of Kamla Group of Companies, explained various initiatives taken by the government to support MSMEs and emphasized that sustainability depends on how we make the best use of these initiatives by ensuring compliance.
The event included a panel discussion that featured five panellists, including Arun Peter Vaz from Arun P Vaz & Co Chartered Accountants, Alan Castelino – Social Entrepreneur and Renowned Management Professional, Gopalkrishna Samaga – Deputy General Manager and Regional Head of Karnataka Bank, Dilip Shah from Mahavir Plastics, and Jayesh Dedhia from Urvashi Industries, who discussed how MSMEs can be sustainable in the changing times. GVS Kumar, India Head, VBHC Value Homes Pvt. Ltd, moderated the panel discussion.
The event was attended by 83 industry representatives representing 61 companies, as well as 128 postgraduate and undergraduate students. Elvina D’Souza, Secretary of Aldel Education Trust, Elaine D’Souza, Secretary of the Trust, Dr. Savita J Tauro, Deputy Campus Director, and Principal of St John Institute of Pharmacy and Research were present at the event. Nilkanth Chaudhary, President of Laghu Udyog Bharti, Boisar Chapter, Elongovan Mudaliar, President of Tarapur Management Association, Velji Gogri, TIMA President, and other renowned industrialists were also present.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, and Dr. Reuben Buthello and Pallavi Srivastava performed as the master of ceremony. Dr. Balamurugan gave the vote of thanks. All the student representatives, teaching and non-teaching staff of St John of Engineering & Management MMS Division worked hard to ensure the success of this seminar. Dr. Gopal V Mulgund, Principal of St John College of Engineering & Management, Dr. Brijbandhu Das, Principal of St John College of Humanities & Sciences, Sr. Veena Monteiro, Principal of St John International School, Suchita Gharat, Principal of St John Junior College, and Satheesh Shetty, General Manager of the Campus, Sudheer Babu, HR Manager were also present at the event.
