How to Achieve Excellence in the General Awareness Section of Entrance Exams

As Voltaire said, “common wisdom is not so common,” and “universal knowledge is not so general” in today’s society.

While one might get away with a lack of common sense in Voltaire’s day, with the amount of admission exams now days assessing pupils on their general awareness quotient, there is no evading the later. The usual scenario is that General Awareness is treated lightly throughout preparations, with the attention mostly diverted to specifics like Maths, Mental Ability, and so on, and when the results come out, you find out what struck you the hardest. THAT SECTION ON GENERAL AWARENESS!

So, if you don’t want to be the recipient of such a blow, here’s what you should do.

Periodically, read newspapers.

This is one piece of elder wisdom we ignored, and now it’s coming back to bite us. However, it is never too late. Furthermore, when your elders told you to read the newspapers, they usually meant the large editorials. However, from the standpoint of cracking broad knowledge of an entry, you may ignore them. Pay attention to the headlines. Focus on new appointments, current accolades, tournament results, and new book releases. Keep up to date.

Make effective use of Facebook.

Given that you spend more time on Facebook than reading newspapers, it is only right that you benefit from it. As such, the official pages of all major newspapers. This way, relevant information will appear on your Facebook timeline. Second, one may participate in quizzing groups, even if just as a spectator at first.

Keep a new sort of diary!

Make a journal and write down the ten items you notice in your daily newspaper reading. These should ideally be topics about which you are unfamiliar. Google them at the end of the day as a daily practise. Read the introduction text about them on Wikipedia to get a basic knowledge of what they are. The more interested can read whole pages and perform some link hopping, but for the most basic comprehension, the first paragraph will enough.

Obtain Photographic

Even for the most astute brains, coming across hundreds of new names during preparation and attempting to recall them is a monumental undertaking. So, what is the exit strategy? Aspirants may want to try looking for photographs of such names on Google Images. Knowing how a person appears makes it much simpler to recall their names and details about them.

To remember better, share.

General Knowledge is a memory game. However, with the constant flow of new knowledge, we tend to forget previous ones piece by bit. That is why sharing is a fantastic approach to keep knowledge for a longer period of time. A group might be formed to exchange information on a regular basis.

Alter Your Approach

Because there is no set curriculum from which to study for General Awareness, students sometimes believe that there is no value in preparing for it. Its immensity often leads applicants to believe that investing time and energy in it will not provide the required results, and this attitude for all tests means that the student never works on this portion of the paper. As a student, you must understand that no information is wasted. An investment of time in this area may not provide immediate results, but the gathered knowledge will aid in the long run.

Last but not least, when it comes to learning, donâ€TMt restrict yourself to entry exams. Pay close attention to what others say, double-check facts, and remember the golden rule: no piece of knowledge is useless. Knowledge is much more valuable.
