Goa Police Collaborates with Goa Engineering College in Creatathon for E-Beat Book App Development

Panjim: The Goa Police launched an exciting initiative called “Creatathon” on Monday, exclusively for the students of Goa Engineering College in Farmagudi, Ponda. Thirteen teams of enthusiastic students have enrolled in this event, and they have been given a timeline of 20 days to create an E-Beat Book App as part of the competition.

The main objective of the Creatathon is to foster collaboration between the Goa Police and Goa Engineering College (GEC) in developing an online beat book system. This system will be used by beat officers to maintain a record of information related to anti-social elements in a particular beat area. The beat officers, who are usually of the rank of constable head, will be responsible for maintaining the beat book and ensuring supervision by senior officers.

Superintendent of Police North Goa, Nidhin Valsan, along with GEC Principal M.S. Krupashankara, briefed the students from the IT department of the college about the requirements of the E-Beat Book App. The students were encouraged to use their technical skills and creativity to come up with innovative solutions for a user-friendly and efficient app.

After the completion of the Creatathon, the best three apps will be rewarded, and a security audit will be conducted to ensure the reliability and safety of the apps. The app that meets all the criteria and emerges as the best one will be utilized by the Goa Police as a part of its “SMART” (System for Mobile Application for Reporting and Tracking) policing initiative, which aims to leverage technology for effective law enforcement.

This collaboration between Goa Police and Goa Engineering College through the Creatathon is a significant step towards modernizing the beat book system and making it more efficient and streamlined. It also provides an excellent opportunity for the students to apply their technical skills to real-world problem-solving and contribute to the advancement of law enforcement technology.
