New Delhi: During her presentation of the Union Budget to Parliament today, February 1, 2023, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revealed that the IITs would get a research grant for the indigenous manufacturing of lab-grown diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds are a high-potential energy-driven technology and innovation area.
According to the Finance Minister, a five-year research fund would be provided to one of the IITs to stimulate domestic manufacture of such diamonds.
In partnership with different authorities, regulators, banks, and other organisations, 100 laboratories will be built in engineering universities to develop applications that will use 5G services.
The laboratories will focus on applications such as smart classrooms, precision farming, intelligent transportation systems, and healthcare applications, among others, in order to realise a new set of possibilities, business models, and job prospects.
