In a surprising turn of events, Chadalawada Nagarani, the convener of APEAPCET and commissioner of the technical education department, made a significant announcement on Saturday. The government is set to conduct a special phase admission process for aspiring engineering students starting on November 6. This development specifically caters to candidates who have met the qualifications outlined in APICET-2023 as per GO No 179, which was issued by the Higher Education Council.
While this decision opens new doors for many, it does come as a disappointment to those students who, in previous rounds of counselling and spot admissions, voluntarily forfeited their allotments in pursuit of securing admissions in more prestigious colleges and sought-after courses. The special phase of counselling, however, is exclusively for those who were unable to secure admissions in the preceding two rounds and spot admissions.
Nagarani emphasized during the announcement that this special phase of admission is exclusively available to those who have already registered for admissions; there will be no opportunity for new registrations. He clarified that various government schemes, including fee reimbursements, will be applicable, aligning with the convener’s quota for admissions made in this special round.
For students aspiring to secure admission to private engineering colleges for BE/BTech courses, the process will follow standard norms and consider existing vacancies. On November 6 and 7, students will have the opportunity to select their preferred options, with registration and the ability to modify choices allowed on November 8. Seat allotments will be finalized on November 10, and students will be required to report in person at their respective colleges between November 11 and 13, according to Nagarani’s detailed explanation.
