Engineering College Professors Rally Against Prolonged CAS Delay

Approximately 1,500 dedicated faculty members hailing from 16 prestigious government engineering colleges united in a powerful demonstration on a recent Monday. Their unified voice resounded with a resolute demand, one that alleged that the Gujarat education department had unjustly withheld their rights and the invaluable benefits of the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for a protracted five-year period.

Pankaj Prajapati, serving as the indefatigable general secretary of the esteemed association representing government degree engineering college educators, shed light on this longstanding grievance. He revealed that the glimmer of hope arrived in 2019 when the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) officially sanctioned the CAS. Promising academic growth and much-deserved recognition, the rigorous procedures and protocols stipulated by CAS were diligently navigated by these diligent educators. Regrettably, however, the colleges have found themselves in an agonizing state of deprivation, denied the very benefits that should have been rightfully bestowed upon them.

Exhausting all available channels of communication and advocacy, the aggrieved faculty members have tirelessly presented their case to numerous governmental departments, spanning the realms of education and finance. With a blend of persistence and patience, they sought to encourage progress and the subsequent allocation of CAS benefits. Yet, the passage of time has not been kind, as their plea for equitable treatment continues to go unanswered.

In a paradoxical twist, CAS benefits have found their way into the hands of those in the realm of higher education, leaving these diligent faculty members pondering the stark contrast between their aspirations and the stark reality they currently face.
