Different vehicles are created on different levels; some use gasoline and diesel, and the others run electricity. If you currently own or intend to buy such a vehicle, then here are a few things about Electric Vehicle Charging Station. It is regarding electric charging as the primary source of power rather than fuel.
Definition
Just like a rechargeable electronic device or product, electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids rely on an EV charger to keep their batteries charged. The electric vehicle industry considers EV chargers an essential component, closely tied to the development of electric vehicles. Such charging stations enable drivers to power electric vehicles and travel long distances without fossil fuels. EV infrastructure, consisting of various types of charging stations, is thus essential for encouraging public acceptance of electric vehicles and for supporting the owners by charging their vehicles at home, work, and public areas.
Main Use
An Electric Vehicle charger is a very modern power-injecting device. Its primary use is converting electrical energy into a supply to an electric vehicle (EV) to recharge the existing battery for further vehicle motion. Although batteries in most electric vehicles are recharged with DC power, some EVs include charger that can convert AC into DC and then transfer it to the vehicle’s charging port.
Important Terms
Socket outlet: the receiving portion of the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) which provides the electric vehicle with charging energy.
Plug: the opposite end of the flexible cord from the socket outlet on the flexible EVSE. In North America, neither socket outlet nor plug is employed since the entire cable is permanently attached.
Cable: a flexible bundle of conductors joining the EVSE and the electric vehicle.
Connector: the end of a flexible cable interfacing with the vehicle inlet.
Vehicle inlet: the charging energy receiving port on the electric vehicle.
Types
Trickle Charge- This is a mode that allows one’s electric vehicle to get a little power boost for daily charging. Trickle charging provides extra gentle charging and is suitable for small kinds of vehicles, since a standard three-prong, 220V plug goes with this mode to charge the vehicle.
AC charging- This is basically the most common method of charging all electric vehicles because it is by far the simplest: the charge point is wired directly into one’s home network and then plugged into the vehicle via a cable, thus sending juice to the battery within the car.
DC charge- Fast chargers mostly use the direct current that will go directly from the source into the car. The fast chargers will skip the converter to get the batteries charged faster.
Cost
Some of the EV charging stations are absolutely free. Therefore, it is at such places like shopping malls and supermarkets that such stations are located and accessed. There are some car manufacturers that grant free public charging at particular chargers. Such is the case among other car manufacturers with Tesla, Nissan, and Hyundai.
Public charging costs vary because there are so many ways to define how the price is incurred. Electric Vehicle Charging station is pay-as-you-go or subscription basis charge varying prices. While some are priced according to the charging network, others are based on the owner of the property charging station pays.
