Year-long festivities are being planned from June through the conclusion of the following academic year; the institution has risen from strength to strength over the years
Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College, one of the oldest institutions in the city, will be commemorating its golden jubilee this year.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, principal of degree and PG college G.S.K. Chakravarthi stated that the college was incepted as a non-profit school in 1973 under the banner of ‘The Society of Collegiate Education’.
Year-long festivities have been planned commencing from June this year through the conclusion of the following academic year.
“We have put up a series of programming which will be staged from June to March 2024, and we will have huge events every month ranging from sports to cultural events,” he stated.
The institution that started by imparting simply a degree in commerce currently has a junior college covering all streams, a degree college giving BA, BCom and BSc streams, a PG block spanning MSc and MBA and an engineering college.
Speaking to The Hindu, secretary and correspondent of the institution G. Madhu Kumar stated that the college has a strong alumni and many from this college have attained high positions, such as the present sitting judges at Andhra Pradesh High Court D.V.S.S. Somayajulu and Chimalapati Ravi.
Cricketer K.S. Bharat and actress Gowtami had also studied here, Mr. Madhu Kumar remarked.
Recently, students Durga Prasad and Anil Kumar had won three gold medals in the Commonwealth Games Powerlifting Competition in New Zealand.
“We have done well not just in academics but also in sports and NCC and NSS activities,” remarked Mr. Madhu Kumar.
Job fair
Mr. Chakravarthi stated that APSCHE will be organising a large job fair at the institution on February 25 and 26 and around 15,000 students and over 70 employers are anticipated to participate.
