If you intend to take up engineering after 12th, the likelihood of acquiring admittance into the top Engineering Colleges won’t knock the door but you’ll have to make one. Good results in Boards and preparation for multiple Entrance tests, reaching the cut-off scores would help you enrol in your preferred Engineering College. Various Engineering institutes provide admissions to B.Tech programmes such as – Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Biotech Engineering, Electronic Physics Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering.

Below is the list of the common Engineering Entrance Exam to acquire admittance into the top of the universities and courses-

JOINT ENTRANCE EXAM (JEE-MAIN)
JEE MAIN is the most common Engineering Entrance test performed by the candidates who are prepared for engineering.
This test was being held by the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) until 2018. From 2019 and forward it will be administered by NTA.

JEE MAIN is relevant for admissions into many streams of engineering – Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Biotech Engineering, Electronic Physics Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. For appearing in JEE MAIN candidates need to have a minimum of 75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in Class 12th from any accredited school board.

Most of the major institutions take JEE results into account for admissions into the B.Tech programmes. JEE Main test are qualified to apply for the JEE Advanced for admissions in Engineering or Architecture programmes at the top schools of India such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs etc.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT)
BITSAT is an Engineering test administered by BITS-Pilani to acquire admissions into several Engineering degrees at the BITS campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad.

Class 12th Science Stream students with an aggregate of 75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology are qualified for this test. It is a Computer-based test with a length of 3 hours.

Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE)
VITEEE is conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) for admissions across the multiple campuses notably Vellore and Chennai as well as the universities in Amravati and Bhopal. For appearing in VITEEE, the applicants need have earned at least an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in Class 12th. It is a computer-based exam spanning a period of 2 hours 30 minutes.

Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET)
IPU CET is a University level Engineering Entrance Exam for admissions into engineering by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The minimum qualifying is 12th board test or any similar exam with Science courses. It is an offline format test where both subjective & objective type questions are presented.

Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM)

KEAM 2019 is a state level qualifying test offering admissions into the Undergraduate Engineering programme held by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala yearly. To participate in this examination students should have appeared in Class 12th with subjects- Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. This state level entrance test is pen-paper based on an exam length of 2 hours 30 minutes.
