Anantapur: Anantapur District Collector, M. Gowthami, recently provided an update on the AP Central University’s relocation plans. The university, which is currently housed in the premises of a private engineering college on the outskirts of Anantapur, is set to move to its permanent campus in Janthalur, located in the BK Samudram Mandal, approximately 15 kilometres away from Anantapur.
During her visit to the Janthalur campus, the collector took stock of the ongoing construction progress, which includes the university and hostel buildings. The need for this relocation stems from the challenges faced by students who come from various states, as the current location is cramped and inconvenient.
To expedite the process, Gowthami issued a directive to the engineering department to recommence construction work starting Monday. Furthermore, she instructed AP Transco to fast-track the land acquisition process for the establishment of a dedicated 33 KV substation. She also urged rural water supply officials to prioritize and complete the necessary infrastructure for the provision of water to the campus as soon as possible.
