The Future Mobility Challenge hosted by Abu Dhabi University (ADU) was a significant event that promoted innovation and provided competitive learning opportunities for students. The competition was organized by ADU’s College of Engineering, along with Global EEE, 3elm Education and Training Consultancy, and the U.S. Mission to the UAE. It attracted the participation of 21 teams, including international delegations from the USA, Italy, Qatar, and Egypt, and over 400 individuals attended the event to encourage and cheer the competing teams.
The competition comprised two categories, the Electric Vehicle Grand Prix for high school students and the Global Electric Vehicle Challenge for university students. During these competitions, the teams showcased their unique designs and outstanding projects to the jury members. The jury evaluated the projects based on their innovation, sustainability, and impact on the environment.
The award ceremony marked the conclusion of the event, and the winning teams were announced. The female team from Maryland won first place, the International Schools of Choueifat SABIS Ruwais team won second place, and the Italian team won third place. Additionally, teams and individuals were recognized and awarded in other categories, including the fastest qualifying time, technical innovation, women in science and engineering (WISE) award, and best team and event promotion (website, social media, etc.), as well as best use of 3D printing, safety, workmanship, car graphics, sportsmanship, best photo, and best video.
The competition provided a unique opportunity for students and researchers to showcase their skills and contribute to the development of the UAE’s mobility sector. The event was supported by several key partners, including MathWorks, ProjoTech, Al Nabooda Automobiles, and EVIS (Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit). The success of the competition highlights ADU’s commitment to investing in scientific research initiatives that foster innovation and creative thinking among its faculty and students.
