How to Find The Right Free Solar Energy Training For You
There are various types of information ranging from you-tube videos to actual courses available for download. The level of the course and the type of educational prerequisite also varies with the content.
To deal with this, so that readers can decide what kind of content is right for them as well as which piece of solar training content to do next I am creating a legend that you can use to find what you need.
Here are the levels/categories that I see them falling into:
Introductory – Content is about general but important topics such as climate change, renewable energy etc.
Basic – Content is more specific but introductory to the subject. For example, a basic course in energy storage would talk about the technology and the available types of energy storage devices on the market.
Detailed – The content is specific in that it is focused on one aspect of solar energy only now we start to learn how to calculate or specify the particular aspect. To continue with the energy storage analagy “Detailed” content would teach is how to choose a particular energy storage type, manufacturer and even size a system that is required. – This level will likely have some prerequisites needed such as basic math, or electricity. etc
Advanced – This content requires a higher level of math, physics and electricity understanding. For example if may be you will learn how to design an off-grid solar powered house or maybe just the entire solar pv system itself.
Research level. – This level requires an undergraduate or master levels understanding of science and/or engineering. An example would be a course in material science teaching about doping solar pv material to achieve certain characteristics.
Here are the different types of content delivery that are possible.
2- Archived – A single previously taught course.
3- An Online course requiring registration leading to a designation, certificate or degree.
4- A Real Classroom that you need to attend in person.
As I mentioned above free content can come from a variety of sources such as:
Universities or Colleges, Companies, Governments or Individuals. – Later some may come from us.
For now we will focus on content that is in English, but later I plan to have some content translated for some of our larger reader groups.
I will set this legend up to be accessible from the main page, and automatically update when I review and add new content.
Let me know if I have missed something important.
