42% Seats in Govt Engineering colleges Have No Takers
The most sought-after government engineering colleges in Rajasthan has able to fill little over 58% seats in the academic session 2017-18. The number of seats filled in the government colleges recorded lowest in this session. Data says that out of 5,860 seats, 2,483 seats found no takers in government colleges which until two years ago had seen a number of applicants’ at least three times to the number of seats.
“Neither these colleges are ready nor state publicises about the opening of these colleges. I fear some students who have taken admission in these colleges may decline after they visit the college and see the facilities. Still private universities are admitting students which makes the maiden year for these colleges difficult,” said a senior official Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP), a body conducting counselling for engineering colleges.
