National Level Drone Competition
Robotics is a multi-disciplinary domain which involves knowledge related to Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Science Engineering. If there is one technological advancement that would certainly make living easy and convenient, Robotics and its allied technologies would be the answer. The brain of robots where they receive set of instructions that make them perform tasks automatically is powered by Artificial Intelligence.
As per reports by 2025 Artificial Intelligence will play an integral part across all major industries. Automated machines have taken over the duties of dangerous and mundane jobs from humans allowing greater productivity. Because robots never tire, extra shifts have been added to factories. Farmers have taken advantage of new technology with automated harvesters. The waste disposal industry has implemented robots in some of its dirtier jobs, and the medical industry benefits from advancements in assisted surgical robotics. The idea of a factory with no human workers has come to fruition. IBM runs a “lights off” factory completely staffed by fully autonomous robots making keyboards.
One of the significant outcome of Robotics are Unmanned aircraft like structure controlled by remotes called Drones. These devices have a wide range of applications and are rapidly gaining in popularity. They are still in their infancy stage in terms of mass adoption and usage, but have already broken through rigid traditional barriers in industries and governmental organizations.
From quick deliveries at rush hours to scanning an unreachable military base, drones are proving to be extremely beneficial in places where man cannot reach or is unable to perform in a timely and efficient manner. Increasing work efficiency and productivity, decreasing workload and production costs, improving accuracy, refining service and resolving security issues on a vast scale are some of the best uses drones offer industries globally. Adoption of drone technology across industries leapt from the fad stage to the mega-trend stage fairly quickly as more and more businesses started to realize its potential, scope, and scale of global reach. Tech Organizations such as Amazon have already made a gaint leap by sending wishes and parcel gifts to its cutomers using a Drone.
It is the need of the hour that the young student community must be aware of these advances in technology. Few of the prestigious colleges in India have taken these technologies to students and AVCE are proud to be one among them. Annai Vailankanni college of Engineering, Kanyakumari has established the Robotics centre of Excellence and have insisted the students in developing Drones. Students from all streams of study have shown great Interest in developing Drones and also they are incorporating additional technologies which may better serve practical use cases. AVCE is organizing a National level Drone Competition may be first of its kind in the month of February.
